College Confusion

I, like many other college students, have no idea what I'm doing with my degree after graduation. I'm only a junior so I have another year and two internships to hopefully give me insight, but it's still scary. I'm almost an actual grownup. I'll no longer be a teenager in two months.

I may not have mentioned it before but I'm a double major in graphic design and communication and media studies. I feel as though I'm either going to be a designer or work in advertising because those are my favorite options for my gd and comm degrees, respectively. However, I'm not sure I'll be able to integrate my creative and analytical sides into one career.

It would be nice to have a job where I can do both but I'm not sure how to get there. It seems like people expect me to be an "art person" or an "English person" and I want to be both. And more importantly I want to be good at both. While both my passions (and majors) are entwined, it seems like I'm not going to be able to have the best of both worlds for much longer and I'm going to have to decide which person I want to be.

I'm not looking for answers or anything like that. I'm just trying to get out my anxiety over being an adult and having to make "major life choices" and such. Is anyone else going through a similar struggle or dealt with this while they were in college? Can you find me a dream job and make my life easier? If you answer yes to any of those questions (or just want to say hi) leave a comment.

I recently just stumbled upon your blog, and I'm glad I did :)

I felt the same way for a long time. I'm in my senior year now, majoring in Event Management, but it's very similar to a communications degree. As for finding out what I wanted to do with my degree - I found out through my internship. My internship in the events department of a museum turned into a job, and now I can't imagine doing anything else! You don't have to make any decisions right now, I think college is the best place to be right now!

Thanks for your comment! It's good to know I'm not alone in the whole after college thing.

Hey hey Kristen! Thanks so much for following my blog! I'm following yours back! lets me bffs okay? Haha! For real, I'm not a creepster! Promise! Anywho! I've been there with the whole, becoming a real adult thing.. And you know what? I'm waaay wayy out of college.. and I still don't feel like an adult.. Could be because I never got a job that had to do with my major.. But ugh! College is tough..and these decisions are tricky! But you have some time!

Janette, I'll probably never feel like a real grown up anyway. But you're blog is super cool and we should totally be bffs. =]
